Social Work Choice are recruiting for an early Help Family Hub Service who looking to recruit: 2 x Change and Challenge Caseworkers The Change and Challenge Service, part of the Early Help Family Hub, has been set up to support the delivery of Phase 2 of the Government’s Troubled Families programme, which involves turning around the lives of 2970 families. To be eligible for the programme, families must present with concerns in two or more of the following areas: crime and anti-social behaviour, poor school attendance, worklessness or financial exclusion, domestic violence and abuse, children in need or physical or mental health problems. We are seeking to recruit a CCS Caseworker to help support the programme. They will be holding a number of complex cases and be responsible for the coordination of parenting programmes throughout the borough, as well as being part of the duty and surgery team.

The purpose of this post is to provide a holistic assessment of families and offer single or multi-agency coordinated packages of support. The CCS Caseworker will empower families to identify and tackle challenging behaviours, reduce negative family relationships, securing a positive pathway for improvement, with emphasis upon increasing educational attendance, attainment and reduce exclusions by:

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Working in partnership with families by listening, offering advice and guidance to develop and enhance parenting skills.

  • Delivering evidence-based parenting programmes.

  • Completing assessments using the Early Help Framework and making appropriate referrals to other services.

  • Taking on the role of the Lead Professional, co-ordinating services in the Team Around the Family (TAF) acting as the single point of contact, when required.

  • To work in partnership with relevant professionals in statutory and non-statutory organisations.

  • Supporting high risk families who do not meet the thresholds that trigger the involvement of specialist services.

  • Carrying out direct work one to one and group work, at the CCS building, within the family homes, schools and other community venues with CCS clients [Adults and Children] who may display very difficult, challenging, angry and aggressive behaviour.

  • To work with CCS Management to deliver a high-quality service to schools, partner agencies, parents/carers, their children and other members of their family, ensuring that we work towards the Troubled Families criteria.

  • To work with CCS Management to deliver all CCS plans and meet the highest standards in the Performance Management and Quality Assurance Framework.

  • Accuracy of records using a variation of different programmes and systems such as, Excel, Access, Liquid Logic, Civica etc

  • To be responsible for the delivery of efficient, comprehensive co-ordinated activities and referrals involving CCS clients with the objectives of meeting Local and National standards and within the aims and objectives of the Enfield CCS Business Plan.

  • To maintain accurate records of all activities in accordance with target objectives and national standards.



Qualifications:

  • Must significant demonstrable experience of parenting and child care working and be educated to a very good standard, particularly having good English Maths and have further qualifications that demonstrate a commitment to continued personal and professional development and the capacity to understand different perspectives and issues and complete written work to a high standard.


  • Must have a very good level of written and verbal communication and presentation skills [e.g. must be able to communicate with people ranging from young people and parents to managers in children’s services or partner agencies] with a very good demonstrable knowledge and experience of IT use, especially in using Word package and database use.


Experience:


  • Significant demonstrable experience of working with and assessing families, children, young people and managing a large and complex case load of clients with complex needs and often challenging behaviour whilst working in partnership to deliver high quality interventions that challenge and change behaviour. Must be extremely competent at delivering group and individual programmes to clients and be able to support and enable people and challenge and change behaviour in ways that help develop: positive life style; prevent negative outcomes and achieves high quality outcomes that lowers risk and prevents family breakdown.


  • Experience of working in a very busy and challenging environment and working to deadlines in a high performing service with high quality standards is fundamental.


Other requirements:

1. A DBS enhanced disclosure is required.

2. Demonstrable training and experience in key areas i.e. Parenting Work; Communication; Child Protection/Safeguarding; Law; Assessment [particularly of assessing risk and protective factors in relation to parenting and safeguarding]; Risk and Case management; and IT and data base use. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of performance management and quality assurance in relation to the delivery of high-quality services to parents/carers and children and young people. Specifically, demonstrable experience of improving practice and driving improvements to create high performance and quality.

3. Considerable demonstrable experience of carrying out statutory assessment, particularly of assessing risk and protective factors in relation to parenting ability, welfare and safeguarding and of writing detailed reports to advise regarding interventions.
